It’s been was a very exciting and busy week for all of us! Earlier this week, Solidarity Strategies was honored to sponsor a celebration in honor of Dolores Huerta, one of the most passionate civil rights leaders of all time. She has fought tirelessly for the rights of laborers and farm workers, Latinos, women, immigrants, and members of the LGBT community and we could not be more proud to have been a part of honoring her legacy.
On Tuesday, President of Solidarity Strategies Chuck Rocha attended the CHCI Conference where he had the opportunity to train over 100 past and present CHCI interns. The training informed our future leaders on how to run for office. It was exciting to see so many young Latinos motivated and ready to run!
The 2017 CHCI Gala on Wednesday evening was a very special night for our team. We were honored to see Congressman Castro speak to the importance of upholding the DACA program and passing bipartisan legislation to protect DREAMers. The Congressman was accompanied by many of its recipients on stage, including our very own creative director, Luis Alcauter.
Our Vice President Vanessa Moyonero spoke on a panel on diversity and women in politics held by Running Start. The panel focused on talking to young women about being a strong candidate, fundraising, and creating a powerful elevator speech. We can’t wait to see them run for office!
From Dolores Huerta’s celebration and the CHCI Gala, to the Hispanic Heritage Awards and the trainings and panels, this week has demonstrated the political power that our community possesses and supported the need to continue fighting together. We want to thank everyone that has helped make this year’s Hispanic Heritage month so special!
Siempre con ustedes,
