Busy End to April

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The Solidarity Strategies team had a crazy busy week! We are so fortunate to be involved in really great projects and be connected with amazing people. Below are some highlights and reminders for great events in the days to come!

On TUESDAY, our President, Chuck, and Vice President, Vanessa, taught a room full of future campaign managers as part of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee University in their efforts to prepare the best campaign staff for the 2018 cycle. Chairman Ben Ray Lujan, House Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Congressman James Clyburn, also spoke to energize these new leaders. Sign up here as there will be trainings in cities across the country!

On WEDNESDAY, our Creative Director, Luis, spoke at the “Impact of DACA in Higher Education” panel as part of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Act on the DREAM Summit. The panel also included Thomas Saenz, President of MALDEF, and Andrew Sund, President of St. Augustine College. Luis, who is a DACA recipient, spoke about the huge challenges and uncertainties DREAMers and DACAmented students face when applying and attending college.

YESTERDAY, VP Vanessa was at Campaign & Elections’ Campaign Tech Conference as a panelist. On “The Impact of Visual Marketing for Campaigns” panel, Vanessa spoke about the success of Bernie Sanders’ messaging, which included simple visual designs and text, authentic communication between candidates and voters, and the need for campaign messaging that is culturally competent and conscious of the diversity among minorities.

TONIGHT, we’re kicking off Washington Correspondents Weekend with Our Voices: Celebrating Diversity in Media, a reception held by Voto Latino and The Young Turks. Chuck is a host, so keep an eye out for his cowboy hat!

TOMORROW, we hope to see you all out on the National Mall for the Peoples Climate March! We will be at the Latinos Unidos event at Navy Memorial at 9am to kick off the march with local mariachi band Los Gallos Negros, so come join!

NEXT TUESDAY, we are proud to sponsor Latino Victory’s #LatinoTalks2017. Join us May 2nd, in celebrating the community’s resilience and strength. Buy your ticket here!

ARE YOU TIRED YET? WE ARE. Please call Chuck and tell him to give us Monday off…
