Our Silver Lining

Our Silver Lining

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On Tuesday, the inconceivable happened. But despite our disbelief, anger, and despair, we want to acknowledge some of the victories our community had.

The number of women of color in the Senate quadrupled last night. Kamala Harris (CA), Mazie Hirono (HI), Catherine Cortez Masto (NV), and Tammy Duckworth (IL), added to our representation in the Senate. Catherine Cortez Masto will serve as the first ever Latina Senator and she adds to the total number of 31 Congressional Hispanic Caucus members.

There are 8 new Latinos elected to Congress, we congratulate Nanette Diaz Barragan (CA-44), Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Lou Correa (CA-46), Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15), Darren Soto (FL-09), Catherine Cortez Masto (NV) and Ruben Kihuen (NV-4) on their wins and for serving as an example to our community. We are honored to have had the opportunity to be a part of their election and can’t wait for them to be sworn in. Congratulations to all of them! Their leadership will be essential in what is to come and we have full faith they will continue making us proud.

We are also appreciative of VoteVets, NCLR Action Fund, Latino Victory, Voto Latino, MoveOn.org, Democracy for America, CHC BOLD PAC, LULAC, NALEO Educational Fund, NCLR and the DCCC for pushing hundreds of thousands of families to vote this cycle.
Now more than ever, we need to stay strong and fight for our friends and family.
Hasta la victoria,
Team Solidarity
